Central Heating Plant

An ambitious design/build boiler renovation project revitalized this six-story plant which provides steam heating for nearly 100 federal government and related buildings in Washington, D.C. The facility features six 250 psig, 220,000 lb/hr boilers, each with its own renovation requirements.
Among the design and construction services provided: installation of a modern coal stoker system; addition of a full-load gas firing capability; installation of a baghouse and densephase ash system for each boiler; repair and replacement of boiler pressure parts connection of bottom ash system to ash slurry system installation of a control room replacement of existing induced draft fans addition of economizers for each boiler installation of distributive microprocessorbased controls.
