New Hanover Hospital
New Hanover Regional Medical Center Surgical Pavilion
The New Hanover Regional Medical Center Surgical Pavilion was an important addition to the existing hospital performed by Kirlin. The 143,000 square foot facility includes twenty-six operating rooms, seventy-six prep and recovery rooms, sterile processing, and twenty-four post-anesthesia beds.
The project included three custom built York air handling units which provide 182,000 CFM tied to the hospitals central energy plant. The collaboration of coordination, the fab shop and installation of piping for the coils in the very confined vestibules within the air handlers was expedited to keep on schedule. Steam and hot water for heat are also provided from the central energy plant. Extensive medical gas piping was required to provide services to other areas of the hospital's current and future projects.
The project received the Kirlin Corporate Safety Award (20,000-50,000 Hour Category)
