Memorial Hospital Miramar is a new four-story hospital set in a campus-style healthcare development offering a comprehensive array of medical and surgical services. The new structure is story stories high with a Mediterranean architectural influence, including 250,000 square feet of space and 100 beds.
The first floor mechanical room houses two 1,320 ton centrifugal chillers, two 65 horsepower steam boilers, two 6,100 MBH heating hot water boilers and all associated pumps. Three cooling towers are located adjacent to the mechanical room in a screen wall enclosure. The condenser water is fed underground to the mechanical room. Two 12,000-gallon underground fuel storage tanks supply fuel into the mechanical room to feed boilers and emergency generators.
Fifteen central station chilled water air handing units condition the bulk of the hospital with hot water reheat thermal boxes. In addition, two dual path chilled water air-handing units with secondary glycol are utilized for the operating room suites.
The plumbing system includes a Triplex domestic water booster pump and three domestic water heaters with a 940-gallon storage tank. The system also contains medical gas systems with an air compressor, a vacuum pump, piping, and valves and outlets.
