Lexington Medical Center Clinical Expansion

The Lexington Medical Center Clinical Expansion project is located in West Columbia, SC. The work consisted of a new clinical services building involving 21 new operating rooms along with all services areas, administration areas and support areas for a total of 273,000 sq. ft. of new construction and 141,000 sq. ft. of renovated areas. The project also included a new central energy plant with 5 new chillers (3,250 tons), 4 new boilers (900HP), along with associated pumps, cooling towers and new ice storage. After the project began, it was expanded by the addition of a 90 bed 5 story bed tower, 70,000 sq. ft. Imaging Suite and a new Dietary kitchens.
The project was very complex at the beginning due to having to relocate existing service lines between the existing central energy plant and hospital which were in the footprint of the new structure. We were able to accomplish this with little or no disruption to the Owner.
