UNC Arts Common – Music Building Phase 1A
The project created a new four story music building that includes classrooms, rehearsal rooms, faculty studios, a piano studio, a digital theory room, and a large rehearsal hall. An acoustical engineer was involved to make sure that the building met the best acoustical performance. Close attention was paid in the elimination of vibration in the building systems and sound travel through the wall systems.
Kirlin installed the mechanical systems on this project. The equipment included two custom air handling units, exhaust fans, air terminal units, fan coil units, cabinet unit heaters, fin tube radiators, pumps, heat exchangers and a steam PRV. There are four floors of new piping and duct work to provide heating, cooling and dehumidification of the building.
