Orange County Convention Center - FL

Kirlin had the privilege of being contracted to work on the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, being asked to do the mechanical scope of the building. The Convention Center is one of the largest construction projects in the state of Florida, with Kirlin's contract alone coming in at over thirty-million dollars.
The Convention Center covers 2.8 million square feet, one-million of which is used as an exhibition hall. The Orange County Convention Center ranks as one of the world's largest exhibition halls and was deigned to enhance Orlando's standing as one of the world's premier convention venues.
The HVAC package on this project included seventy 50,000 CFM draw-through air handling units that were mounted in penthouses located sixty-feet above ground level. Three tertiary VFD chilled water pumps feed twenty-four inch chilled water distribution mains and the project has over 5,000 tons of cooling. Roof size dictated that a vast majority of the over one-hundred exhaust fans be set in place by a helicopter. The sheet-metal requirements for this project totaled nearly 4.5 million pounds.
