Raleigh, NC

The new state-of-the-art Golden Leaf Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center (BTEC) on North Carolina State University's Centennial Campus was designed for students skilled in the operation of equipment and processes unique to biomanufacturing. The 93,800 square foot, two-story hands-on training center is comprised of high-tech classrooms and 63,000 square feet of highly specialized laboratory space with bench-scale and pilot- scale bioprocessing equipment needed for next-generation research.
Kirlin had the privilege to provide turnkey mechanical and plumbing services for this highly specialized facility. The scope of work called for the furnishing and installation of a Controlled Cold Room, six Air Handling Units, bioprocess exhaust fans and all piping and plumbing fixtures. Kirlin also installed piping for domestic/lab water, sanitary waste and vent, storm and drainage, steam, air and gases; sheet metal supply and exhaust ductwork; and HVAC equipment and HEPA filters. Testing and balancing, and commissioning of equipment were also accomplished, and under a separate change order, Kirlin was hired to hook up various pieces of Owner-furnished specialty laboratory equipment.
