Air Force One Hangar
Andrews Air Force Base, Camp Springs, Maryland

The hangar and maintenance facility houses two Boeing 747 aircraft reserved for the exclusive use of the President of the United States. The structure also accommodates the Air Force operational and maintenance personnel assigned to Air Force One duty as well as Boeing's parts and maintenance technicians.
The base's bulk JP-4 and MO-CAS fuel loop was relocated with no disruption in service and new aircraft fuel storage, pumping, filtering, distribution and pantograph loading systems were installed. The ambitious project also included wash, compressed air and aviation fueling systems accomplished through extensive under-slab drainage.
The hangar's HVAC requirements are supplied by a central plant through a VAV air distribution system. High bay heating is provided by ceiling-mounted blow-down aircraft hangar heaters. The area is protected by an overhead and floormounted Cannon aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) fire protection system which is fed by a 250,000 gallon water storage tank and four 500 horsepower fire pumps.
